Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 3 June 2026
1. About Us
Ethical Donations is a UK-based fundraising platform operated for the benefit of registered charities and good causes. By using the platform you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
2. Definitions
"Platform" means the Ethical Donations website and related services. "Donor" means any person making a donation. "Charity" means any organisation onboarded to receive donations. "Fundraiser" means any user creating a campaign. "We", "us" and "our" refer to Ethical Donations.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding contract to use the Platform. Charities must be UK-registered or otherwise lawfully constituted to receive charitable donations.
4. Platform Services
- 0% platform fees. We do not deduct a platform fee from donations. Payment processing fees from Stripe still apply and are disclosed during checkout.
- 25% profit redistribution. Each year we redistribute 25% of our net profits to verified charities on the Platform. Allocation methodology is published quarterly.
- Gift Aid service. Where you elect Gift Aid on a donation we collect and store a declaration on the charity's behalf and may, under separate paid services, help charities prepare or submit Gift Aid claims to HMRC.
5. Payments & Stripe
All payments are processed by Stripe. By donating you also accept Stripe's terms. Donations are typically non-refundable; in exceptional cases (e.g. fraudulent or duplicated transactions) we will work with the charity and Stripe to issue a refund.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use the Platform to commit fraud, launder money, harass others, infringe intellectual property, post unlawful content, attempt to bypass security, or solicit donations for causes other than legitimate charitable purposes.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of campaign text, images and updates you upload. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating the Platform.
8. Charity Verification & Suspension
We verify each charity before approval and may suspend or remove a charity if we reasonably believe it is in breach of these Terms, applicable law, or HMRC / Charity Commission requirements. We may pause payouts during an investigation.
9. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its design, code, trademarks and content (excluding user content), is owned by Ethical Donations or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law.
10. Privacy
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Ethical Donations against any claims, losses or costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Platform.
13. Amendments
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-product notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under them.
15. General
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right. These Terms set out the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.
